  • Dr. Nick Monson, Associate Professor, (clinical) is a board certified primary care sports medicine specialist within the Orthopedic Department of the ÑÇÖÞ×ÔοÊÓÆµ of Utah. Dr. Monson specializes in evaluation and treatment of spine, shoulder, elbow, hand, hip, knee and foot and ankle issues. He also has special interest in concussion management and treatment of chronic tendon issues. Dr. Monson utilizes ultrasound for diagnosis as well as for guidance of injections allowing for rapid assessment and treatment. He also specializes in performing spinal injection procedures using fluoroscopy.

    Dr. Monson graduated Magna Cum Laude from Utah State ÑÇÖÞ×ÔοÊÓÆµ in Exercise Science and then attended medical school at Des Moines ÑÇÖÞ×ÔοÊÓÆµ in Iowa where he earned multiple academic awards. He completed residency at the ÑÇÖÞ×ÔοÊÓÆµ of Utah in Family Medicine followed by a fellowship in Sports Medicine also at the ÑÇÖÞ×ÔοÊÓÆµ of Utah. Dr. Monson serves as a team physician for the Utah Stars, Utah Jazz, US ski team, ÑÇÖÞ×ÔοÊÓÆµ of Utah Athletics, Salt Lake Community College as well as multiple local high schools and remains active in event coverage throughout the community. Dr. Monson also serves as the director of Orthopedics for the ÑÇÖÞ×ÔοÊÓÆµ of Utah’s Farmington ÑÇÖÞ×ÔοÊÓÆµ Center.

    Dr. Monson grew up overseas in Japan, England and Germany following his Dad who was a teacher and coach. He learned a passion for a wide spectrum of sports and human performance and remains active in athletics of all types. His special interest lies in keeping high level athletes, weekend warriors and those that sometimes enjoy watching sports at the top of their game.

    Dr monson is a fantastic doctor. I had a new mri two days before my injection for my lower lumbar. Dr monson took the time to go over the new mri and immediately located the problem and how he would address it. The procedure went smoothly and I was in great hands. Dr monson is very kind and caring and his whole staff was great. Thank you Dr monson. I highly recommend Dr Monson and his team.
